Entertainment Industry Internet Marketing Tips | What You Should Know Internet Marketing | November 27, 2009 | By The Brainchild Group

Internet marketing for the entertainment industry is a very competitive venture that often requires hundreds of thousands of dollars to gain small amounts of exposure. Yes, compared to television and print, the internet is less costly and therefore appealing. But, are you properly utilizing your internet marketing budget as well as the newest, most effective marketing mediums?

Succeeding in the entertainment industry — whether you’re an actor/actress, musician, own a production company or juggle on the Santa Monica Promenade — is highly dependent on gaining a step above your competition. What sets you (or your company) aside from the crowd? Distinguishing such and emphasizing on it is critical.

Now, to get down to the nitty gritty. How can entertainment companies, actors/actresses, film/commercial production companies, musicians and other entertainment-related businesses use the internet to decrease marketing expenditures and increase revenue?

1) Search Engine Optimization (SEO)

Properly structuring website content (meta titles, meta descriptions, text, etc.) will ensure relevance and promote higher rankings in search engines. Basically, the goal is to specifically target your intended market with keywords themselves as opposed to commercials and print ads.

2) Creative, Functional Website Design

Designing and developing a creative, functional website is imperative to online success. Ease of use is a top priority along with content, media (photos/videos), and SEO integration.

3) Blog Marketing

Blogs should be used on a daily basis — there are no ifs, ands or buts. Blogging has become a worldwide phenomenon and continues to grow at an amazing rate. Having an interesting, current blog that updates fans/clients on news, events, projects, etc. is key.

4) Viral Videos

With lightning fast internet connectivity becoming more readily available across the globe, video content has seen a huge spike. Entertainment businesses should leverage online exposure via the use of viral videos. Short, catchy, interesting viral videos that will attract and retain your target market.
