Nikon D90 Video – Runyon Canyon to Melrose in HD 3X Speed
My first video edited in Final Cut Pro 7! There is a small learning curve, but after a couple hours of poking around I got the hang of it. Very sweet editing platform… I liiiiiike! Though I’m not a videographer or editor, I can say the software seems quite robust.
This is a test video of my friend Aric and I driving from the top of Runyon Canyon (Solar Dr.) down through Nichols Canyon, Sunset Blvd. and down to Melrose Ave. Shot on Nikon D90 mounted to Camtrol, which I simply stuck out the car’s sunroof like a periscope.
The D90 doesn’t offer stabilizing features for video like most HD camcorders, and the roads in Los Angeles are horrible (darn bankrupt state), but I think the video quality is still pretty good. Prior to having the Camtrol mount, my in-car videos were horrible with the D90, but there is hope. I believe!

Hi,
First of all your video is not horrible. The motion of the camera shows realism in the bouncing around that we have here in on the streets of Los Angeles. What you have shown here is what is know as Cinéma Vérité. This is a very popular style of film making that portrays reality. Keep up the good work.
