Virtual Assistant Jobs Taking Over The World?
With the internet becoming more prevalent by the day, more and more people are jumping aboard the virtual assistant bandwagon, which is quite interesting. In the past week alone, our company has had over 5 calls from individuals inquiring about working virtually. It’s a new phenomenon that will surely take off.
My opinion is that the influx of virtual assistant positions available will slightly help stabilize the job market (by a small margin). Virtual assistant positions eliminate the location aspect of the job equation, which is often a blockade for people searching for new jobs. Also, they cut costs down for employers, which will lead to increased profits, more stable businesses and ultimately an improved economy. Far-fetched, I know, but it’s quite conceivable.
I can see virtual assistant positions becoming popular for the marketing and SEO industry as most work can be performed virtually. We shall see.
Sincerely,

Use of a virtual assistant can reduce costs, but it could also increase business leverage. Instead of paying an employee $20 / hour inclusive of medical benefits, payroll taxes and all the other employee related expenses, that same company could hire two or three full-time virtual assistants. So, they can save money if they hire a virtual assistant instead of an employee, or can gain more man-power by hiring two or three people in place of one.
most virtual asisstant positions are “independant contractor” positions, aren’t they? so they wouldn’t be counted/scored as “real jobs”?
