As many of you know, I’m a big foodie — a very big foodie. I love trying new food, eating at good restaurants and providing my critiques, which unfortunately don’t happen too often. It takes something very special for me to put my work (running The Brainchild Group) aside to write a review, but when it comes to Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ I just can’t resist.
I have been chowing down at Gyu-Kaku for many years, since their location on La Cienega opened about 8-9 years ago. I have lived in West LA for the past 5 or so years, but had not visited Gyu-Kaku’s West LA location on Pico until recently. Boy, oh boy, am I dumb for waiting.
If you love amazing food sizzling on a hot grill, this place is for you. If you love deliciously marinated meats grilled to perfection, this place is for you. If you’re like me and require top-notch customer service, this is place is for you. All around, Gyu-Kaku is excellent.
My favorites include:
- Kobe lunch special
- Bistro harami
- Filet mignon
- Salad (yes, I love the dressing)
- Happy hour all day Monday!
Lastly, I must say that every time I visit the Gyu-Kaku on Pico I receive excellent service. Ryan, Derek and the rest of the staff are all sincere and make the experience very enjoyable. Kudos!
