Search Engine Optimization: The Extraordinary Power of Press Releases Search Engine Optimization | December 6, 2010 | By Aaron Schoenberger

Of all the gadgets in one’s SEO toolbox, why is it that most SEO companies/consultants forget about the extraordinary power of eloquently wordsmithed press releases? Just so you know, press releases have feelings, too.

An integral aspect of business is promoting transparency while simultaneously accomplishing company goals. Fortunately, press releases do just that and much, much more.

A properly crafted, catchy press release provides a variety of benefits including:

  • Quality backlinks from reputable industry/news sources
  • A transparent flow of information to target markets
  • Content that has a high propensity to go viral on Social Media channels
  • Positive, relevant mentions in search engines from third parties

The next time you’re concocting an SEO campaign or researching SEO companies to lead the way, be sure press releases are utilized. But, remember that newsworthy content should be the basis of a press release, so don’t simply write a release to write one; they’re not advertisements. Overstaying one’s welcome (tossing out crappy press releases with a salesy vibe) will leave bad impression, and that’s the last thing you want.
