Social Media Firms: How to Choose a Winner Social Media Marketing | March 29, 2011 | By Aaron Schoenberger

If you’re on the hunt for a social media firm that has demonstrated the ability to achieve results, there are a few things you should know. Choosing a winner is no walk in the park, and a majority of firms simply lack the expertise to provide an all-inclusive social media campaign.

For one, most social media companies are very familiar with social media, rightfully so, however they’re oblivious to SEO best practices. To be a winner, social marketing firms must have in-depth knowledge of SEO — there’s no question about it. Blog posts, press releases, Tweets, and other content needs to be optimized for search engines to produce the best ROI.

Secondly, when searching for a marketing company, be sure to do your research and see how social media is working for them. Does their content get Retweeted and/or Liked on Facebook? Are they referenced on marketing blogs and seen as an authority? What clients have they worked with? These are important questions that deserve answers.

Thirdly, it’s important to find a forward-thinking social media firm that plans for today, and also tomorrow. A vast majority of firms rely on published information to sculpt their approach, but what you want is a company that conducts their own research and plans for the future. It’s all about having a competitive edge, which is accomplished by being an innovator, not a follower.

I hope this brief article has been helpful and good luck with your search!
