Of all the awesome 2011 Super Bowl commercials, one of my personal favorites is Volkswagen’s ingenious spot featuring a Darth Vader kid. The campaign, coined “The Force,” has proven to be a huge success.


Advertising Age has done an excellent job of ranking viral videos, and hosted their second annual Ad Age Viral Video Awards ceremony on Wednesday night. Volkswagen walked away with an award for Best 2011 Super Bowl Campaign, which is no surprise.


According to Ad Age, “Dozens of commercials were launched to varying levels of hype during this year’s Super Bowl, but the buzz winner online by a long shot is Volkswagen. The German auto’s “Force” campaign took the web by storm, generating 31 million views within the first week of its launch.”
