Search engine optimization is all about improving the organic ranking of websites in search engines. The operative word: organic.

Entrepreneurs and businesses know that their success is based on having a survival of the fittest mentality, and unfortunately not everyone plays by the rules. Walking the line is one thing, but crossing it is a different story.

There have been plenty of horror stories about huge companies bending the rules for monetary gains, however in the end they always seem to fall, and fall hard. Yes, you can buy thousands of crappy links and be on the first page of Google in a relatively short period of time, though it will catch up with you.

Dont get me wrong, link building is an integral part of SEO, but there’s a right way and a wrong way to do it. I’ve found that creating quality content is the absolute best way to generate backlinks. This includes blog posts, press releases, videos, etc.

The moral of the story is that you must find the right balance. Don’t look at SEO as trying to own the world. Share information, then backlinks and top rankings will follow.
