When it comes to social media, or what I like to call digital gold, blogs serve as corporate spoons — dishing out information that thrives on social channels. Without a blog, how can companies push information outwards? With 140-character Tweets? I don’t think so.

The year is almost over, and as I sit back and reflect on marketing days gone by, there’s one trend in 2010 that sticks out like a sore thumb: Full-service advertising agencies have become somewhat obsolete and boutique, specialized online ad agencies are thriving. Businesses are flocking to Social Media Marketing (SMM) and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) like flies on…. my food, and this has paved the way for a drastic, e-centric shift in the advertising world.

According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, a whopping 121,000 square acres have already been scorched and property damage is, so far, estimated at $14 million. Luckily, the Mount Wilson observatory and communications equipment (antennas for phone companies, emergency services, etc.) remains unharmed.
