Truly identifying America’s #1 search engine marketing firm has always, and will always, be an ever-evolving debate. Technology is in constant progression, and being America’s #1 search marketing firm is highly dependent on research and staying on the ball, so to speak.

In my opinion, being top of one’s niche requires a precise focus; one that’s heavily based on experience and research. Search engine marketing is not a “learn on the fly” job, and many years of work is needed to fully, and I mean fully, understand the intricacies of marketing with the internet.

When looking at Search Engine Marketing (SEM) as a whole, the best of the best opt for Search Engine Optimization (SEO) as their weapon of choice. SEO requires thorough knowledge of website content, meta data (page titles, keywords, etc.), website structure, building incoming links and a host of other elements.

In regards to Pay-Per-Click (PPC), having been in the business for over 10 years, my suggestion is stay away from it. It has a very limited “shelf life” and you, the client, are charged per click, which is not ideal. Unqualified clicks lead to wasted money. On the flip side, search engine optimization focuses on natural or “organic” placement in search engines at absolutely no cost per click. If your website were to receive 1,000 clicks in one day, you will pay ZERO dollars. This, my friends, is the glory of SEO.

Finally, in wrapping this short post up, think to yourself — why would a company suggest and implement pay-per-click programs when they can achieve the same (if not better) rankings with SEO, for a fraction of the cost? My simple answer: they haven’t progressed to the level of internet marketing zen. Pay-Per-Click Grasshoppas, more research is needed and some day you will be a great one too.
