
So, you have a day spa — a gorgeous, zen-like, top of the line facility in a prime location. But, you are interested in increasing businesses and don’t know where to start. What can be done on your budget? Which marketing medium(s) produce the best return on investment (ROI)?
To begin, you must take your thoughts of TV commercials, print advertisements and other costly mediums and toss them out the window. These channels are quite pricey, require multiple runs to achieve exposure, and have no worth in the future. Once aired/printed, they create a big boom then sharply drop off and disappear into oblivion. Marketing should be done to increase sales and promote company sustainability in the future, but, with the internet becoming more prevalent by the day, tv/print ads will only be semi-successful in the years to come.

1) Use Maps!
Google Maps, Yahoo Maps, Bing Maps and any other business/map listing you can find, that is free, is good to sign up for. In particular, Google will provide the best results via their Local Business Center (map listings).
2) Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
All parts of your website should be optimized for SEO. This is very important for ranking high in search engines and attracting organic, free traffic.
3) Social Media
Blogs, viral videos, photo sites and other forms of social media should be used to promote your day spa. If a photo says a thousand words, imagine what a video says. My suggestion for salons and day spas is to utilize videos quite heavily.
