Unlike many things in life, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is not a “learn on the fly” sort of thing, and professional SEO requires years of experience. When looking for an SEO Company to take your business to the next level, there are a few things to consider:
1) Ranking of the SEO Company Itself
How does the SEO company you are speaking to rank for keywords they themselves are targeting? This is extremely important. For example, if the company is targeting “Corporate SEO Training” search for those keywords in Google/Bing and see where the company’s website places.
2) Track Record
Does the SEO service you are researching have a proven track record? If so, do their results impress you? Be sure to ask SEO companies for samples of previous work, which will establish (or disprove) their ability to achieve top rankings in search engines.
3) Client List
Aside from an SEO company’s track, what type of clients have they worked with? If your company offers a high-end service, or is a large corporation, has the SEO company had such clients? These are good things to inquire about.
4) Customer Service
Customer service is an integral part of business, and the SEO service you are researching should be available to answer questions you may have. A recent trend is to outsource SEO work to India and other countries, but in terms of customer service, this is almost always a nightmare. Keep that in-mind.
5) Reporting
Be sure to choose an SEO company that can properly track the ranking of your website including PageRank, Alexa ranking and most importantly keyword placement.
