Last night I was reading a very interesting review on the new movie ‘Google Me’ which is an ingenious documentary by Jim Killeen that features him and seven other guys named Jim Killeen. It’s a journey that illustrates the importance of search engines and social networking in this day and age.
One late night while sitting on the computer Jim Killeen decided to Google his name, which sent him on a life-changing quest to find other Jim Killeens across the world. This quest has now created a worldwide buzz and has skyrocketed his documentary to success. And the biggest contributing factor to such is…Google! Google Me has been receiving an insane amount of searches and I love the fact that what’s creating the buzz is the same thing the movie is about – utilizing search engines for life’s questions.
In regards to business and marketing, the movie Google Me displays the fact that Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and online branding are vital. Just as Jim Killeen searched for his name in Google to find other Jim Killeens, potential customers are using the same strategy to find companies in your industry. For example, if a restaurant is looking for a social media marketing company they will jump on Google and search for something along the lines of “restaurant marketing social media.” The goal is to place your website at the top of search engines so you can filter these potential customers to your website thus attracting new business and increasing revenue. After all, the only reason Jim Killeen connected with other Jim Killeens is his interest (the name) and Google.
Be sure to check the movie out! The trailer (below) looks awesome.
Sincerely,
Aaron Schoenberger
