Social Media Marketing: A Lone Ranger Without SEO

It truly breaks my heart to see a plethora of good Social Media content go to waste, but it happens everyday in this wild world we call the internet. As I have said many times before: The best article in the world, the coolest viral video, and the most catchy Tweets can fall flat on their face without a sprinkling of SEO fairy dust. It’s the good stuff I tell you.

Social Media, however strong and supernatural it may seem, cannot act as a lone ranger. Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is needed to maximize exposure and create a true buzz. Social Media communications that lack a clear focus (keyword research/implementation) will not reach desired target markets, and such will decrease the ROI of Social Media campaigns. “No gouda” as my cheesemaker friend would say.

And, investing in a Social Media campaign that ignores SEO best practices will unfortunately, but realistically, compromise business sustainability. Maximizing ROI is an integral aspect of company stability and growth.

In conclusion, the next time you’re walking down the marketing aisle of your local business supermarket be sure to grab yo’ self a huge bag of SEO. Or, simply hire a Social Media Optimization (SMO) consultant. 🙂
