Paid search advertisements veered into an unexpected direction on October 27, 2010 when Microsoft and Yahoo! announced a partnership that places advertisers under a single house/platform aimed at efficiently reaching 163 million search engine users in the United States, and 15 million in Canada. Ladies and gentleman, the Microsoft Advertising adCenter has received a stylish and ingenious makeover.
According to Microsoft’s David Pann, “Today [Oct. 27, 2010] we are pleased to announce, with our partners at Yahoo!, that we have completed another major milestone for the search alliance transition in the U.S. and Canada. This milestone comes following more than a year of planning, engineering and close partnership with advertisers.” For marketing companies that specialize in paid advertisements, this is big news. Like a baby being born, winning the lottery, or remembering that you have extra prosciutto and Parmigiano Reggiano cheese in the fridge.
I primarily focus on organic forms of online advertising including Social Media and Search Engine Optimization (SEO), but I feel as a marketing professional it’s my duty to explore the intricacies of all mediums. Living life with blinders will get you nowhere.
I will continue my preliminary research for the next few weeks, and will post articles as I go. Feel free to Follow Me on Twitter to receive updates.
