There’s a reason why companies throughout the world are dumping money into Social Media Marketing and SEO, and I’m a strong believer that statistics speak for themselves. I was surprised (well, just a little) to read that Cyber Monday sales are up nearly 20% over last year (2009), which demonstrates the importance of online sales and marketing in this day and age.
According to Coremetrics, an IBM company that specializes in marketing optimization, online sales in the United States were up 19.4% from 2009. John Squire, chief strategy officer of Coremetrics, was the one who put the icing on my marketing cake with his statement that “Cyber Monday came in as the biggest shopping day of the year so far.”
All in all, our clients have been ecstatic about Cyber Monday sales numbers and I can see this is prevalent throughout the web. The only question is: What will Cyber Monday 2011 have in store?
