I’m a firm believer in thinking outside of the box, following the path of technology, and using online marketing channels to their greatest potential. Be an innovator and go big or you might as well go home.
When it comes to Social Media Marketing and squeezing the most out of marketing efforts, you absolutely can’t forget Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It’s imperative for Social Media Marketing companies/consultants throughout the world to gain a basic understanding of SEO best practices and integrate such into social campaigns. A social marketing campaign with no SEO is like a bike with no wheels, a website with no hosting, or an amazing meal with no fork/chopsticks.
One of the most common mistakes I see social marketers commit (yes, it’s a crime) is failing to optimize page titles and meta descriptions for blog entries — a big no, no. Once the initial “social boom” subsides, traffic relies on search engine users and the occasional retweet of old content. The most awesome, informative, catchy blog post can be lost in the wind unless it’s optimized for search engines.
Moral of the story: If you provide Social Media Marketing services but you’re clueless about SEO, you better get your rear in gear.
