Tonight I had an interesting conversation with a good lawyer friend of mine, which covered everything from attorney social media marketing to food to watches. He mentioned that he’s looking for a new watch and wants one similar to mine, so we started browsing the web for possible candidates. What I uncovered is quite surprising.
One of the most exclusive and highly regarded watch manufacturers, a name I will not mention, has absolutely no social media presence. In fact, when I search for their name followed by Twitter (e.g. XYZ Twitter) in Google, all that appears is fake accounts. Blah! Grrr! Woops!
All brands, whether small or large, need to have some sort of social media presence. I recently wrote an article about how a lack of social media can actually hurt brands, and this is a perfect example of such. Given the fact that I’m a customer, I want to follow the particular watch company on Twitter, but they DON’T EXIST. What a bummer.
The ultimate question is: If customers want to connect with brands, why shut them out? Get in touch with a reputable social media company, or a social media consultant if internal resources can be utilized, and get the ball rolling. Establish a presence today to ensure sustainability tomorrow.
