Geico’s new commercial is another trophy on their wall, with a dog rockin’ out on the keyboard while a bird sings its heart out. Made me have an A-Ha! moment…literally.
Kicking up a classic, this commercial enlists the song “Take On Me” by A-Ha, a 1980s Norwegian pop band. If you haven’t heard of them I must ask: Do you live under a rock? The song’s high notes are prime material for vocally gifted birds, as you can clearly see.
Marketers throughout the world should take note of Geico’s successful campaigns as they have transformed a mundane, often overlooked product (insurance) into a fun, entertaining thing. Comedy forms personal connections, which leads to a feeling of trust for brands. This is something Geico has mastered.
