Diaper-clad toddlers breakdancing in roller skates to funky tunes has earned Evian some serious exposure in the social media world, with their 2009 commercial titled “Evian Roller Babies” raking in over 15 million views and over 30,000 likes on YouTube.
I’m most surprised that the video, even though it was released in 2009, continues to top viral video charts. This shows that TV commercials need to be edgy and have a high propensity to go viral otherwise exposure will be limited to purchased ad spots. By going viral, a company can discontinue paying for costly TV spots and stick to social media. Basically, use television as an initial boost to reach the masses, then rely on social media once things start to snowball. It’s an interesting phenomenon.
Hope you enjoy the clip!
