So you’re located in Los Angeles and want to hire an SEO consultant — welcome to the club! As obtaining high rankings in search engines becomes more important by the day, more and more companies are realizing the need to bring on an experienced SEO consultant to guide them in the right direction. However, over the years I’ve heard a ton of horror stories about SEO consultants that don’t help businesses, but actually hurt them. Don’t make that mistake.
When looking to retain a Los Angeles SEO consultant there are 3 key things to look for:
Track Record
I may sound like a broken record, but it’s imperative for you to ask prospects for information on their track record. Have they been successful with their SEO efforts? Have they produced results for a local business with little competition or a global brand?
Strategy
Not all SEO consultants are created equal, so you must quiz them on their strategy (sounds crazy, I know). Do they rely on outdated, penalty-prone business directories to build backlinks or do they take a content-centric approach to SEO? The goal is to ensure the SEO consultant’s strategy is aligned with industry standards and doesn’t violate Google’s Webmaster Guidelines or other guidelines.
References
If an SEO consultant says they worked on a site and shows you the results they’ve produced, how do you know they were actually the one who produced the results? Simple answer: You don’t. Ask for references to ensure the person you’re looking to hire is the real deal.
