You have finally made the decision to bring in outside help to get your marketing on track, but you’re stuck and have many questions ranging from the costs for marketing consultants to the deliverables — what are the results you should expect and at what price?
We’ve been in the marketing consulting space for 15+ years and I thought it would be helpful to make a post about what to look for when hiring a marketing consultant/firm and most importantly the hourly/monthly rates we’re used to seeing.
First and foremost, not all areas of marketing are created equal and those with unique skills will always demand a higher price tag. For example, finding a Google AdWords consultant involves hiring someone who understands a very simple recipe versus bringing in a social media or influencer marketing consultant that specializes in executing on certain verticals and is intimately connected with the target markets. That = more $.
Also, how big is your business and what are the associated risks? If you’re a Fortune 500 company it is probably best to hire an experienced marketing consultant with experience in marketing as well the business/legal implications of their marketing advice.
It’s difficult to quantify the real costs of marketing consulting today because prices are all over the place and many times based on specific projects/goals, and as the old saying goes “you get what you pay for.”
In the end, weigh all of your options and make the best decision to take your company to the next level.
