The world is an ever-evolving place and it’s interesting to see how social networks have taken over our everyday lives, and also how that shift created a demand for consultants/firms with the expertise to guide companies when they hit a fork in the road. This post touches on that.
When social media really took off in the early days – Myspace launching in 2003, Twitter in 2006, etc. – everything from how to communicate, understand what’s being said then responding, and the dynamic in general was foreign/new to the point where each day felt like a science experiment.
This rise in social media initially led to a new breed of social media marketing companies offering a wide variety of services ranging from management of accounts to strategy, etc. that were all focused on capitalizing on the trend in the moment (and even up until today). But, those who produced on a high level where, as the saying goes, “the proof is in the pudding,” transitioned to social media consulting.
Our social media consulting agency based in Los Angeles, CA launched in 2007 and it has been interesting to see the industry shift over time through our experience guiding companies ranging from startups to Fortune 500s.
In the future, we predict the demand for social media consulting firms will continue to rise as everyone becomes a “social media expert” while companies, especially global organizations with a lot at stake, need definitive solutions. Who will truly get the job done?
