The times are changing now where Instagram and TikTok continue to take over the world and it’s cool to see how content creators are using both platforms to tell their stories today. Though when it comes to posting reels on Instagram that you previously shared on TikTok… that can = more harm than good.
First off, when the pandemic hit we all started to see how Instagram began labeling stories and other content as COVID-related based on the images (using image recognition), language (Natural Language Processing) and by analyzing other key data points.
Warping into today, with Instagram and TikTok battling for supremacy, think about how simple it is for Instagram’s deep learning image recognition algorithms to detect a TikTok logo/watermark in any post and therefore kick it to the curb.
On the other hand, Instagram is compensating creators through their Reels bonus program which encourages people to stay on the platform and create unique content instead of jumping ship.
The moral of the story is that if you’re posting content on Instagram (posts, reels, stories, etc.) that have a TikTok watermark it’s a clear indication that Instagram isn’t your main priority and, based on the algorithms, you’ll be put in a corner and miss out of opportunities.
