The world of search engine optimization has been an ongoing game of chess for the past 20+ years and now that AI is revolutionizing everything, SEO in 2023 will be a different animal. And this post touches on the things we’re seeing as being industry-recognized leaders in AI and SEO.
First and foremost, similar to the scrum mindset where small teams are agile and work to execute on specific tasks in the moment then continue to iterate over time, it’s interesting how that forms similarities between the ways Google’s search engine algorithms function, especially given their most recent shift towards MUM – a multimodal approach to understanding data using deep learning (AI).
Secondly, given the approach that focuses on a blend of good content (linguistics) combined with relevant photos, audio, video, etc. SEO has transformed from being a more elementary medium where stuffing keywords or creating crappy backlinks produced results (though temporary) and nowadays that just doesn’t fly.
Thirdly, going back to the core of this post and what we predict for SEO in 2023, it’s sad to say but a big slice of the SEO providers today will disappear tomorrow because they didn’t keep up with the times. We first saw this when social media data started to play into SEO and old school SEO geeks had no clue about social media, so they failed in the end.
The moral of this story is that technology is rapidly evolving and in 2023 SEO will be heavily driven by AI, but are you prepared for that?
