There are times in our lives when things come out of nowhere and the trend we’ve been seeing in the food space for years has been around Kobe and Wagyu beef (similar in many ways) then all of the sudden Olive-fed wagyu was crowned the rarest and most expensive steak according to recent social media trends and other data we’re seeing.
When it comes to the rarity, we’re not talking about internal temperature (rare vs medium rare) but instead the scarcity based on supply and demand. While Kobe beef had its moment of fame other providers/prefectures (Miyazaki, etc.) started to come to light along with cattleman from around the world (e.g. Australian wagyu is prized).
This is no different than Ferrari announcing a new model that’s sold out years in advance because customers know how special it will be before going on a test drive or even visualizing the final concept – enthusiasts see the vision and jump on it. And by simply looking at the marbling in photos/videos of olive-fed wagyu any foodie will be forced to indulge.
From a marketing perspective, it’s exciting to see foodies like Guga and innovative companies like Capital Meat Imports in Los Angeles, CA paving the way for what’s to come.
Looking forward to seeing what’s next…
