Imagine being a kid and exploring the world where everything is magical in many ways, and each day you’re listening, learning and adapting to your environment first based on simple factors then as you get older more complex and strategic scenarios you’ll face in relationships, the workplace, etc.
Looking at the world of SEO in particular, and how many in the field are still ancient, the big question is can you truly be the best at your game as an SEO consultant, SEO firm or any other SEO provider without understanding Artificial Intelligence (AI) principles? The simple answer is no.
Going back to the early days of SEO when people would create hidden text in footers and other sneaky moves to game Google’s algorithms, that ship has sailed and the chess game of how to beat search engine algorithms has continued to play out up until today and will live on forever.
And as Google and other search engines became more intelligent over time those shenanigans were tossed out the window then shortly thereafter another factor was included in the mix: The value of unique, quality content as a way to establish credibility instead of relying on fluff. And for old school SEO people that are used to operating in their bubble like Milton from Office Space, that was unachievable.
Fast-forward to today where Google is taking a generative/multimodal approach aimed at understanding the world as things happen in the moment, the times are changing and companies need to stay ahead of the curve. That ultimately comes down to the ways SEO and AI first dated then realized they’re truly in love before forming a marriage that brings us to where we are today.
In a nutshell, imagine thinking you’re an SEO magician and can beat Google then realizing they’re way smarter than you ever expected. It’s like a digital slap in the face that you either deserve or can translate into a kick in the butt that pushes you to learn more and become better.
