In recent times there has been buzz around AI ranging from ChatGPT to other solutions being launched from Google and Meta, though a big question that has been floating around in the SEO community is if AI will replace SEO, and we’re going to dig into that more.
First and foremost, the simple answer is no. Even though AI may seem magical it’s many times driven by real-world feedback in the form of Human in the Loop (HITL) systems where everything you click, watch, engage on Meta products, Google, etc. are listening and learning from everything you do. The human element is absolutely critical.
Is AI Part of SEO and Vice Versa?
AI is playing a critical role in SEO today more than ever before, and in the future we anticipate that to continue as Google learns more about search behaviors and ways to tie their products together across all platforms (YouTube, etc.).
Can ChatGPT Replace SEO?
This is a touchy subject that we’re hesitant to cover, however it’s important to cut through the white noise and express how we truly feel. And the simple answer is no: ChatGPT was the first wave that created the initial awareness/buzz for AI, though if you’re an SEO consultant/firm or company relying on ChatGPT to produce the results you want you’re living in a fantasy.
Is AI the End of SEO?
The better question is if AI and other technologies continue to accelerate at crazy speeds can AI be the end of SEO, though going down that path is assuming a world that’s powered by general artificial intelligence which is unrealistic now.
In a nutshell, the value of humans will continue to play a key role in SEO for many years to come though it’s on humans to be smart enough to recognize the algorithm changes taking place then adapt to such. It’s truly a give and take relationship.
