Looking back in time after the Industrial Revolution the next wave that truly changed the world was around California emerging as the tech capital not only when it comes to where social networks were born but also many of the things (AI, etc.) that power our everyday lives now.
Going back to the early days when we started and how social media was a pie in the sky – an outlier that many were skeptical of – nowadays social media drives everything ranging from how people meet their significant others (dating sites) to data/insights global financial institutions use to make critical investment decisions in the moment. It’s all relative.
When you look at the big picture, it’s cool how one state in the U.S. (California) has the power to create experiences/economies that continue to transform our lives, and also why California is special in so many ways. Think about the world today without Meta (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), Elon Musk (PayPal, SpaceX, Tesla) and so many others.
The point is, California is special in many ways and aside from everything else nowadays we can all agree that it’s a hub of innovation, a place where simple walks can lead to huge deals, and the weather is ideal.
And that’s reminiscent of the early days during the Gold Rush where people in California were on the grind each day and panning/testing everything then the excitement around what was extracted from the earth (gold) led to so much more. Though how do we extract gold from social media now?
Fast-forward, it feels almost as if innovation was moving at such a fast pace before in micro levels where we felt it in stages – like going from having a beeper/pager to magically speaking to others on a small device which at the time was mind-blowing – and now moving quickly is on a different level.
These are some of the common questions we’ve seen recently around social media marketing and our feedback:
What is the fastest growing social media platform?
Identifying the fastest growing social media platform and trying to quantify that is tough, and it all depends on your company’s goals which ties back to the social media platforms you should be using and how to get the most out of them.
What is going to replace Instagram in the future?
This is a question that has persisted for years and initially TikTok appeared to be the best replacement, though with Instagram, YouTube and others launching short-format solutions the future has become a question mark.
What’s the next big thing after TikTok?
Similar to what was mentioned above regarding Instagram content, looking at TikTok and trying to identify the next big social media platform/trend is difficult, though we are guiding startups in this area and looking forward to what’s next.
This is only a snapshot of what we have in the works and will be sharing more soon…
