Perplexity AI Marketing Strategy: How Podcasts Became Key Opportunity

Aside from guiding exciting projects around the world we spend a lot of time analyzing marketing campaigns to understand what’s working and not, which has drastically changed over the past 20 years since we started, and Perplexity is doing cool stuff with AI as well as changing the podcast marketing game.

In particular, instead of corny breaks in podcasts that disrupt the flow for messages from advertisers/sponsors, Perplexity has found a creative way to introduce themselves/tech into podcasts where it feels natural and part of the usual flow. That = genius from a marketing perspective.

For example, in a recent Joe Rogan (JRE) podcast with Theo Von (both epic comedians) Rogan calls on Perplexity for answers to certain questions and Theo has been doing the same for a while.

In a nutshell, what does this really do based on a vast majority of people being followers versus “influencers” on social media nowadays? Create a huge boost in brand awareness along with usage of Perplexity solutions that will continue to grow the user/knowledge base along with more.

Genius marketing play by Perplexity, which is probably why they’re valued at $20B+ now. And we expect that number to spike significantly in 2026 due to a variety of factors, including the above.
