Over the years we have guided companies through a wide range of roadblocks and successes ranging from consulting on hiring and expanding to solving internal problems, and we thought it would be helpful to drop a post around the difference between SEO consultants and companies that provide conventional SEO services, which are two different animals.
In a nutshell and before we move any further: There’s a big difference between trying to improve something that’s already working as opposed to maybe shaking things up with an outside consultant/firm that can provide a unique, unbiased perspective on where you stand now compared to where you want to be.
Also, it takes the right executives that are open to change and an internal team with the same mindset to welcome outside feedback with open arms and accept that because, as humans, we can’t be experts in everything – and that’s okay!
Going back to the core of this post, SEO consultants are there to understand things at the highest level and provide insights on the past along with mapping out strategies for the future that are then implemented by people on the ground (internal teams, outside SEO services, etc.).
Understanding the big picture is key and where many times the distinction between consultants/experts and those operating on a regular wavelength get lumped together, however it’s not the same yet also based on specific goals.
Take a step back, think about what matters most for your company and explore all options.
