Hold on to your seats and prepare for liftoff: Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference is finally here! There is a veil of secrecy over what exactly Apple’s CEO Steve Jobs will showcase in his keynote speech (as always), though I’m sure it will be super cool and I’m excited.
Safari
I believe a new version of Apple’s Safari web browser will be a star of the show among a couple other things. The browser needs a facelift and falls short on many levels, thus making way for improvements. Additionally, social media has boomed since the last major Safari update and for this reason I can see a revamped, social media friendly Safari browser on the horizon. I envision a browser that has fluidity across all social channels which will allow for streamlined access to social networking sites, social bookmarks, blog posts, news articles, Twitter, Facebook, etc. I’m sure Apple has something up their sleeve.
iPhone Software
Another big possibility for the keynote is a demonstration of the new iPhone software (OS 4), which I feel will follow the same ideas mentioned above. Apple recognizes the importance of social media and will be sure to integrate such into their new iPhone/iPad software. The addition of HD video to the iPhone opens up loads of possibilities including mobile video conferencing and software for sharing videos on YouTube and other social sites.
iPhone
Even though the next-generation iPhone was unfortunately leaked, I’m sure it will still attract a wealth of attention at WWDC 2010. The iPhone is one sexy piece of art and I can’t see Steve Jobs disregarding it due to the leak.
Apple TV
Yes, it’s going to boom soon, but will it be today? Google recently released their internet-based television platform dubbed Google TV and I know internet TV will be the wave of the future. Apple TV has remained on the back burner since its debut, and today may be the time for it to shine.
I’m looking forward to the conference and will post an update later tonight. Stay tuned!
Sincerely,
Aaron Schoenberger
