Looking at the past 20 years it’s exciting to see the progression of social media from its infancy to how it connected people around the world, produced huge benefits then started to go down a dark path in many ways which has led to legal issues we’ve helped solve in the past along with what we see coming in the future.
Going back in time while looking at simple cases involving social media elements, if there’s a personal injury lawsuit where an individual was rear-ended and therefore has damages the case is pretty straightforward, though what happens when there’s big money at stake? Like X comedian getting in an accident with Y Fortune 100 company in New Jersey and that led to Z settlement in the end. Ties back to someone that sounds like Tracey Morgenstein.
Similarly, regardless of the money and looking at the principles alone (what’s right vs wrong) there are many law firms that go after what’s right in front of them as opposed to devoting their energy towards making a real difference in the world and the monetary gains come after. The old school movie Erin Brockovich from 2000 is a perfect example.
And with social media playing an integral role in most cases nowadays law firms need to be aligned with experts that can first understand the situation at hand then help formulate the best approach/response for what’s to come.
Below are a couple questions we commonly see and want to address that relate to the above:
What is a social media expert witness?
Looking at the legal space in particular, a social media expert witness is someone who can analyze cases, present insightful information then testify at trials as a leader in their field based on previous experience/results.
What makes a social media expert witness special?
There’s a reason why certain attorneys are great at writing motions, doing research, etc. then others are recognized as leading trial/litigation lawyers and the same applies to social media expert witnesses. Who’s really going to get stuff done?
These are the basics of social media as it applies to legal cases and expert witness testimony and we’ll be sharing more soon. Stay tuned.
