After nearly 20 years guiding the biggest companies in the world and their internal teams along with third parties like outside social media agencies we have seen everything you can imagine, and this post is aimed at cutting through the white noise (aka BS).
As a good example, we all have friends that claim to be amazing cooks or chefs/foodies that invite us over for dinner and while anticipating a Michelin-starred adventure we’re presented with a mixture of childhood classics: Grilled cheese with Kraft singles and Wonder Bread, spaghetti with Prego jarred marinara sauce and so much more.
Not to say it’s a negative, and many of us grew up on those classics, though what you anticipated and hoped for was not what you ended up getting in the end, which is what many companies experience with third parties in general whether it’s a social media agency, SEO firm, accountant, financial advisor, etc.
Our advice: Don’t look at anything on the surface and never be afraid or hesitant to dig in more and ask the tough questions whether that’s internally (your team) or grilling third parties (outside social media agencies or other vendors).
Additionally, when things aren’t going as planned and you see a need to change direction, at what point do you put your foot down and say we’re not going with this flow and creating a new path? And that’s one of the biggest marketing failures companies make by not pulling the plug and recognizing enough is enough early on.
This is also similar to social media marketing agencies copying trends instead of creating their own waves, which is a marketing hiccup in itself. While trends take off on Instagram, Twitter and other social media platforms the focus shouldn’t be on ways to hop on XYZ trends but instead listen, learn and use data to influence the next trends driven by YOU.
Do you think Apple, Ferrari, Rolex and others that operate on the highest levels with the most demand are looking at Instagram/TikTok trends then trying to follow others? No. They create their own futures and implement the visions they have which others will always follow then try to duplicate.
We are expanding now and taking on new projects in a variety of areas around the U.S. and throughout the world, and will be announcing more on that soon.
In the meantime, if you’re located in the following areas and see ways to work together let’s connect and explore: Austin, Boston, Dallas, Miami, NYC, Seattle, Silicon Valley or anywhere else in the world.
