We recently noticed how YouTube is now integrating key Google Search elements into their algorithms/UI, especially related to the “People Also Ask” section, which we covered in a previous post and generating buzz/confusion around what exactly it is. Let’s explore more…
Essentially, both Google and YouTube (acquired by Google in 2006) share many similarities in the factors they weigh to determine the rank of content and yes, while YouTube may be skewed more towards views which hold a higher value in a video-dominated platform Google search results weigh more heavily on optimization, quality content, etc. Though when you look at everything in totality the goals and subsequent approaches make sense.
The common theme between both Google search and YouTube now, which is demonstrated by the addition of the People Also Ask, is around curating additional questions users may have around specific topics to keep them on the platform, improve their experiences by delivering quality/valuable content, while also delivering prompts (essentially tests) to better train their deep learning AI models.
The simple answer is that the “People Also Ask” section on YouTube is aimed at expanding your horizons, taking you down paths that are helpful yet you never knew you needed, and so much more.
As we continue to run tests and guide clients from around the world we’ll keep everyone in the loop with new updates. More coming soon!
