With social media being powered by AI today this topic is a no-brainer however many social media folks still try to hang onto the early days while not adapting to what’s happening now, and unfortunately they get left in the dust along with the companies they’re either working for or providing consulting to.
From Instagram relying heavily on multimodal AI models to understand the fusion of content within reels, cover images, music, locations, text and hashtags used in the posts themselves and so much more, if you as a “social media expert” don’t understand the core basics of AI/tech you have to get your butt in gear.
On the flip side, the social media firms/consultants that actually get it now are what the biggest, most successful companies want because the results are proven as opposed to running science experiments to try and hopefully solve problems using your time/money.
A key suggestion we have: Before onboarding any social media marketing agency or consultant ask the right questions and ensure they understand where the social/tech world is today and where it’s going in the future. And if they’re a deer in the headlights when asking more complex questions you gotta run for the hills.
