In this day and age, finding a top SEO agency to achieve high rankings in search engines can be a daunting, headache-inducing task. Everyone seems to know an “SEO expert” and it’s for you, the business owner or marketing appointee, to weed through the BS and find a tried and true SEO company to take your business to the next level. But, you’re stuck. You have no clue what to look for and feel overwhelmed by the decision making process. It really doesn’t have to be this way my friends, and I’ll tell you why.


First and foremost, if you are looking for an SEO agency, you must do your due diligence and ensure they themselves (the SEO company) are able to secure top rankings in search engines. What is their goal? And, are they accomplishing it? If not, time to move on to the next overstated candidate. Since Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has become the talk of the town, all sorts of conventional marketing firms have adapted to the trend by offering SEO services while maintaining little to no knowledge on SEO itself — aside from the definition that is. The goal is to find an SEO company that truly understands the intricacies of SEO and can provide samples of their work. No samples = no dice.


Secondly, another key characteristic of a top SEO agency, which should be remembered, is the ability to accept and adapt to change. Search engine algorithms are like a flowing river: flow can be constant, though a small change in direction, or an obstacle, can divert water and cause a massive backup. The ultimate goal is to flow with the water and have the ability (and knowledge) to adapt to algorithm changes in an instance.


Thirdly, though it is commonly overlooked, is having the experience and understanding of a brand to clearly portray it in the best possible light. You want an SEO agency that will dive into your brand like Michael Phelps in a swimming pool, and analyze the heck out of it. The SEO spear needs to be focused otherwise penetration (aka traffic and conversion of such) will not occur.


Lastly, of all things, a top SEO agency must have Social Media experience to truly be a leader. Nowadays SEO and Social Media are like two peas in a pod, and failure to understand and perform one element of the equation will lead to a miscalculation: lost revenue.
